QUANTUM CLOWN RESIDENCY #3

SHAKESPEARE'S CLOWNS - BRISBANE - JANUARY 2012

Each Quantum Clown Residency  - QCR - has a Foundation of "The Four Articulations" for theatre, acting, clown.

QCR is active, creative, informative and stimulating. It has already proved to be a life changing and career changing experience for participants.

The coming QCR3 is January 3-20, 2012. 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday. The first two fridays are 8am-noon to allow participants weekend travel around exquisite regional Brisbane. Weekends are accessible to Stradbroke Island, Noosa, Byron Bay for example. On the final Friday afternoon there is a Works-In-Progress Showing. 

Each QCR has a theme. QCR3 is "Shakespeare's Clowns" with Guest Teacher - Professor Tom Bishop. Prof. Bishop is a master of Shakespeare, Renaissance art and history, Latin. His online biography is http://artsfaculty.auckland.ac.nz/staff/?UPI=tbis011. He also has specialities in Shakespeare that include comedy and play. He is current recipient of a fellowship in part to investigate Ira's methods of working with Shakespeare and clown. Prof. Bishop is Co-Editor of The Shakespeare International Yearbook.

Prof. Bishop and his Auckland University colleague Associate Professor Murray Edmond created a project for Ira to direct "A Night With Hamlet" in 2010. Ira was assisted by Dr. Rina Kim a leading scholar in the work of Samuel Beckett. Prof. Bishop and Ira are working towards future collaborations.

In QCR1 and QCR2 the guest teachers were Harry Haythorne, MBE and Flloyd Kennedy, PhD Candidate.

Morning sessions of QCR are training inclusive of a range of Ira's unique, and unusually potent improvisations drawn from "The Four Articulations". Afternoons are focused on the creativity of each actor and in teams with Ira working as required with direction.
